Donate to Joe Festa Award of the Nu Sigma Phi Scholarship Fund

As you may know, nearly seventy three years ago, a small group of friends and future educators, sat around a cafeteria table on the campus of Newark Normal School and shared their frustrations over be denied access to fraternities they had an interested in. Their denial was unfortunately, solely based on their religious beliefs, culture,  and/or their chosen major.

That one conversation,  turned out to be the genesis of our great Fraternity, a Brotherhood dedicated to the principles of democracy, service to community, service to one’s school and above all, to the spirit of diversity and inclusion. Over the years, our fraternity has seen many peaks and valleys but though it all, the constant support of brothers like Joe Festa, have continued to keep the spirit alive and our motto “Progress Through the Ages” a reality.  Today, Nu Sigma Phi is one of the largest and most respected fraternities at Kean University.  Since our return, the Actives have twice been awarded for having the highest GPA of all the Greek organizations and have received numerous accolades regarding their contributions to the University, numerous charitable organizations and surrounding communities. Without Joe’s contributions and brotherhood, these achievements may have never come to fruition.

As we celebrate these accomplishments, we recognize a multitude of barriers threaten our future progress. Skyrocketing college costs, including tuition, room and board, on campus expenses and books and supplies have force some of our brothers to reduce credit loads, switch to part-time status and in some unfortunate cases, postpone attendance all together.

Your exceedingly generous donation in the name of our beloved brother Joe Festa, will not only continue his iconic legacy but will ensure that our future brothers have an opportunity to grow and succeed. All donations are Tax deductible as the Nu Sigma Phi Scholarship Fund is a recognized 503 (c) 3 scholarship fund
